About
When The Houston Post
closed in 1995, Cleverley Stone found herself out of work, along with about
2,000 of her fellow employees.
She ran the wedding section of the newspaper and wrote a Sunday column called
"Down the Aisle."
In 1997 she started
Cleverley’s Newsletter as a hobby and faxed it to friends who were
interested in news about
Houston’s restaurant, hotel and club scene. The faxed version became an emailed
newsletter. Sign up for it here.
Cleverley knows her way
around a menu! Since 2003 she’s shared her love of food, wine and dining on the
radio.
"The Cleverley Show" currently airs on Saturdays at Noon on Talk 650
on CBS Radio
in Houston. Stream: http://bit.ly/Talk650
Cleverley has hosted
eponymous radio shows in Houston on KRTS-92.1 FM, Biz Radio 1320, KFNC-97.5 FM
and created the popular
“All Things Delicious” features on Smooth Jazz 95.7-The Wave, where she was
known as the "Diva of All Things Delicious."
Her other popular radio features include:
"Cleverley's Restaurant Minutes, Wine Minutes, Spa Minutes and Travel
Minutes."
Since February 2008, she has been a contributor on Houston's Fox 26 Morning News
a few days a week,
talking with chefs and celebrities as they cook delicious
dishes.
From 1990 to 2007 Stone has been a regular guest on several Houston television
stations including three seasons on "The After Party with Ernie Manouse" on
Houston PBS,
KUHT, channel 8 and two years on "Great Day Houston" on KHOU, channel 11. She
has also appeared many times on KTRK, channel 13 and KIAH, channel 39.
In addition to her position at The Houston Post, Stone has a long history
of writing. While in New York she wrote features
for Home Furnishings Daily, a Fairchild publication.
After the Houston Post closed she wrote for Houston Metropolitan magazine
and served as contributing editor and columnist
for Bride & Groom magazine for several years.
She was the
restaurant columnist for Inside Houston magazine for three years. And food
& wine
editor for Me-Style & Décor and Restaurant & Resort magazines
for three years.
Most recently she was the restaurant columnist for Prime Living magazine, an
upscale publication for baby boomers
with high net worth.
Cleverley was born in New York
City, raised in New Jersey and attended the Wharton School at the University of
Pennsylvania.
An avid traveler since childhood, she’s hiked the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland
and learned to love Gorgonzola in Italy.
She learned the fine elements of high tea and how to ride a two-wheeler, that
her father purchased for her in London,
around the triple smokestacks of the Queen Mary during a transatlantic voyage from Southampton to New York.
Prior to arriving in Houston
she was silver and crystal
buyer and bridal registry director for the Fifth Avenue department store,
B. Altman & Co.,
in New York.
In 1989 Houston-based Foley's Department Store (now Macy's) wooed
her from New York to
become their corporate bridal registry
director.

held simultaneously in restaurants
all over the city,
benefiting the Houston Food Bank.
Since 2006 she has been the judge's chair for the Houston Firefighter's
Annual BBQ
Cook-Off (the largest in the nation) and she supports animal rescue causes.
